New year, New me.. segun dicen

 Happy New Year!! 

I had been writing during the holiday week, but didn't like how everything turned out so I hadn't published anything, but here's to more writing this 2024. 

I had written a letter to myself for 2024 but decided I want to keep that to myself, instead, I want to share some things I look forward to this year, and some goals I have.  

I know we all always set goals for the new year, and somewhere down the line we all forget them and go back to old habits, or simply forget those goals with the business of life. My goals for this year, in my opinion, have been carefully measured and deadlines have been set, so let's hope I can maintain them. Again, I won't share all my goals because one of the lessons 2023 left me was to move in silence, but since I usually share my entire life with you all, I will move somewhat in silence this 2024. 

For this year I have simple, yet not easy goals. 

1) I want to be more active on all my social media. I want to upload to Instagram daily, sharing my daily life, and to TikTok as much as possible. 

2) I want to write on here weekly at least, if I can write more days, then even better. 

3) I want to give myself grace as well. If I don't post one day when I intend to, I'll give myself grace about it. 

4) I also want to enjoy my life more. Last year I found myself prioritizing other things and other people before myself, and this year that ends. I have declared this year, the year of me. 


This year I turn 30, and I want to honor the beginning of a new decade by honoring myself. I want to be selfish and do things for me. Do things that interest me. Go on trips for me not for work. I look forward to treating me the way I treat others. I look forward to loving myself the way I love others, to care for myself the way I care for others. and most importantly to simply live for me. this will be the first year I am without a job because I chose to be so in so long, and even though it is a bit scary, I am looking forward to what this year brings.

So, most people I know are okay with tattoos, I mean come on its 2019 who isn’t? When I lived in the US my tattoos weren’t an issue. My job didn’t mind them, my family didn’t mind them, and my friends didn’t mind them, but I no longer live in the US and man people mind them. I live in a relatively conservative city, and while I do see many tattoo shops and many folks with them, there’s certain areas of the city where they seem to not exist. The key word there is “seem” because I know they do, but they are hidden. See where I live now tattoos are still a taboo and they are frowned upon because they are 1. A sin, and 2. Not professional. Yes, I said a sin. The city I live in is very conservative and I mean I once was very religious and I don’t act like I don’t know what the bible says about tattoos, but I have my counter arguments, but I won’t go there on this post. Where have I been?

 Well, many of you already know, but my stepdad passed away in September. He had been in the hospital since July and things since then haven't really been the same. Add in a new job, and the never-ending pandemic I've just been feeling lost. I should be finishing my grades right now, but sitting here looking at and admiring my amazing husband I decided to write.  To the amazing man that has helped push me these past few months, thank you 💗 You have been my rock and have helped me not get stuck in my depression. You more than anyone know the challenges of being away from family and had it not been for you it probably would've taken me ten times longer to keep moving on. Breakaway ...

In June 2012, I was graduating from high school. 10 years ago I found myself hating the world, feeling lost, and not knowing what to do or what was in store. Before June 15th, 2012 I was set to go to Mexico, I didn't know what was in store other than I was leaving to pursue my college degree that all my teachers promised me I could achieve if I just tried hard enough, not knowing my legal status said otherwise. I felt trapped and confused this whole year.  For some reason, I had Kelly Clarkson playing on Pandora, and Breakaway started playing. I started crying because I could feel each word she was singing.
